No it's not complicated......

If you buy an FSC make sure it's not just a single use code because if you keep the car for a while you'll want to update the nav again in the future.
Keep the code in a safe place for next time....

Honestly finding the map shouldn't be too hard and then you just put the files on a USB stick and put that in your car. After a few minutes it's updated. Simple.

I've just downloaded the 2016 European maps, but am struggling with the FSC Generator - the only one I can find only runs on a 32-bit system and what looks like windows. Running a 64-bit Mac seems to be an issue!!

Any advice where to find an FSC Generator that'll work? Google keeps throwing up various links, but they all point to the 32-bit one I've already downloaded

Cheers :thumbs:

Interesting thread and I'm wandering as we have the standard Business as opposed to Pro Nav Package (big mistake) on our Nov 14 Active Tourer do we also receive the updates direct through connected drive?

Appreciate if someone could clarify this for us?

Well i have the pro nav from sept 2013 and not received a single update to maps. So i'd hazard a guess and say no.

Unfortunately in my case I regrettably didn't go for the Pro Nav and as a result of this thread emailed and received the following reply this morning: -

"Thanks for your email about BMW ConnectedDrive services.

Map updates for your car can be purchased from the BMW apps store. This option gives you two years of updates for the satellite navigation in your car without the need to visit your local BMW Centre and is done by a USB transfer. Although this services is not quite ready for release, the option should be seen by logging into your ConnectedDrive account and selecting the store from the menu. We have been advised that it will be ready to purchase this month."

In the meantime I'd also found the following site: -

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Despite being on Sunday, John (Sales Manager) responded extremely quickly to advise against my query, be interesting to hear if other people have used their services?

I recently downloaded the 2016-1 maps and then used my enet cable and NBT.EXE tool to display a valid FSC code

All you do then us copy the maps onto a flash USB drive and enter the FSC code when prompted.

It took around 45 minutes so I just went for a blast in the car while it did the update.

The nav reboots when it's done!
