I'm writing down a list of things I need to sort on my 130i in the spring, using my past 130i experience, reading on here, friends and what's on the interweb. Mines on 70k and 13yrs with no past evidence of any of the below being done. This is just engine focused.
I'm also hopeing this will be of use to others out there.
So here goes (part numbers are for LCI N52 130i unless otherwise stated):
Oil Filter Housing and Exchanger gaskets.
Around the 50,000 and onwards but could be sooner
Possible to see oil leak, front right engine and down near serpentine/V belt and pulleys.
Get fingers under there and feel around the filter/cooler housings too (without engine running!).
To be addressed immediatly if leak found as drips onto the belt could end in degredation and fail:
Oil filter housing gasket: 11427537293
Bolts: 11427540759, 11427540763, 11427540758
Oil filter cooler/exchanger gasket: 11428637820
If oil is found on the belt, that needs to be replaced also: 11287549643
Belt tensioner when doing the belt: 11288624196
Water Pump.
Failure anywhere from 50,000 onwards, no warning:
Water pump: 11519455978
Thermostat: 11537549476
Screws for above: 07119905400, 11517602123
Pipe, clamps and coolant: 11537521049, 07129952119 x2 and 83512355290
Valve Cover and Associated Gaskets.
around the 50,000 and onwards but could be sooner.
Possible to see oil. Remove plastic engine cover and inspect, if too dirty to find culprit then clean up and wait for new signs.
Oil collecting around the gasket, usually exhaust side or front corner, possible drips onto exhaust manifold.
Not major (unless really bad obviously) but should be addressed:
LCI Valve cover gasket set: 11127559311
LCI Eccentric sensor gasket while doing the VCG. Oil collecting around front spark plug areas, around front of VCG and around the eccentric sensor plug: 11127559699
Valvetronic gasket while doing the VCG. Oil collecting around middle spark plug areas and down around VCG: Pre LCI magnesium cover gasket: 11377516302. LCI plastic cover gasket: 11127552280
Bolt set for VC: Need to check part number as LCI use different.
Items linked to poor running, not major unless gets real bad.
Vanos Solenoids: 11367516293
Can anyone think of anything else engine related, and in what priority?
