Excuse the spelling from the above
but still fuming when having argument with bmw sytner
ÂŁ30000 plus car and my phone nolonger works in it
aftersales service is rubbish after you take delivery
I wouldn't be so angry at Sytner here. Looking at BMWs very own mobile phone compatibilty list, Samsung Galaxy S4 is clearly not a phone that is supported by iDrive. With new phones coming out every month, don't expect BMW to be bringing an update out that often. Your only option now is to put your VIN into BMW website to download the latest update but I very much doubt the S4 is on that as its more Apple orientated IIRC.

The stuff that currently works will be functions that are similar to that of the S3 but stuff like contacts have probably changed in terms of how its programmed which is preventing it from working/syncing. I can only suggest a reset of iDrive or removing your devices and retrying the setup again.

My car is only 2 weeks old
the mobile phone regards phone book sync via bluetooth has never worked
it will however copy over my text messages
I can live with this as clearly a compatibility issue
which resolve when a software update is ready

as of this morning though my the phone usb connector in the car has stopped working and shows on the media page on the car under connections that there is nothing connected to it
There is
And it has been working fine up until now
subsequently my music nolonger functions as I would like in my car
Album art,playlists etc missing
limited functions if I revert to blue tooth

im not angry at sytner so much
just annoyed because some of it is no longer functioning correctly

Sytner's point of view would probably be if the phone is not compatible then it may have damaged the car,not want you want to hear but have experienced it myself

I may be wrong but it seems that BMW have initially went with the APPLE route (alongside a few others) but predominately Apple...why!, I think that it looked like it was going to be the biggest earner for them in so far as selling cradles and conectables....Now that Apple is dragging behind in this field with market shares dropping as the Far East Mobile Phone Industry begins to dominate it is my assumption that BMW are holding back to see which one ones become the most popular (for a time) and give them first attention & support...I think its down to business once again...
just a thought

I agree with big there. I think they're taking way too long to sort out their idrive software to be compatible with Android. I don't have a problem with my iPhone but I can imagine being quite pîssed if I had an S4 and it kept having these issues.
