My 3 year PCP is up in Sept this year. When I got the car from TRL I was in a nice situation of having a good chunk of deposit which got me in the M135i which would have normally been beyond me. I was fully aware that it was going to be 3 years in a brilliant car, with little to no chance of being able to replicate once the 3 years was up. So now I have the depressing task of choosing what to replace it with sometime before September.

Here are some early thoughts/options (only interested in new):

Lower end 1 series PCP, keep the quality but lose the fun.

Lower/Mid VW Golf PCP (as 1 series)

Polo GTi PCP some decent deals around, I like this car and it would retain some of the performance/fun. Obviously will lose some space/practicality.

Golf R Lease, £2000 dep + £220ish p/m, would need to sell M135i to release any equity.

Focus ST PCP, not sure about this one, but I'm sure deals are around.

Any thoughts/ideas? I'm finding it a little depressing thinking about it.

This. If you like the car you can always refinance the final payment, add extended warranty and service plan. BOOM!
It will be too much for me unfortunately
Have you requested a quote? Over 3 years or 4? Alternatively you can also get finance from elsewhere rather than with BMW themselves. May be worth considering. Considering you have been a customer for so long BMW would surely rather work a deal over a period you can afford rather than losing you?

That's a shame.

I would be after the Golf R then, especially over the ST.

One option I think may be for me to try and sell my M135i either privately or to one of the 'we buy any car' companies and pay off BMW which would hopefully leave me with some deposit higher than if I traded in.

No not yet, I have heard people doing this, almost re-PCP'ing maybe?

I need to see what trade-in would be on a light spec manual M135i as these prices seem like they would have me with a fair bit of positive equity don't they?

webuyanycar £17500

wewantanycar £18255

moneyforyourmotor £18520

No, from memory the GFV is around £13k
If the car is worth more than £13k (presumably it's worth £18k privately) then NOT buying it would seem a lost opportunity. I thought that was the entire point of pcp against lease. Borrowing that £13k at less than 4% should do the trick, as suggested. Then you own the car you want seamlessly and can dispose of it when you like as a one owner car.

£13k seems low for a 3 year old

Can you not extend to a 4th year on the pcp plan?

I am on a 3 year pcp ( some way to go yet) but I did ask BMW Finance, out of interest, if any other
options were available other than pay off gfv and own, hand back or part ex.

They seemed to suggest that extending to a 4th year might be possible.

Of course if the payments leap up that is not going to be attractive.

Could be something I'd do, like you say if the payments don't rocket

HSBC loan for 5 years is £235 a month but then the car is yours. No ties.

Depending on how much space you need, have you considered a Fiesta ST? There were some great lease deals a little while ago and more fun than a Focus ST.

Or go with what NickFrog suggested, if you love your current motor you would be daft not to explore the options of keeping it.
