OP how much did you end up forking out in total then for oil and labour? Mine is due a brake fluid service next month so considering getting these done at the same time. It's never had them changed and is now on around 112.5k miles. Can you feel any difference after the change?

When BMW state that these oils are for life and dont need changing, does anyone know what theyre classing as "life" in mileage? For example Vauxhall offered a "lifetime warranty" not long back but that referred to the "life" they valued their cars at which was 100k....are BMW also valuing the Gearbox and diff life at 100k which would i suppose then be the kind of scheduled time to change the oil, though i agree that earlier and more regular servicing of consuamble items is more beneficial, as i myself do the engine oil and filter every 6k as its a 10 min inexpensive job.

My car has only done 34k miles and I could feel that going from 1st to 2nd was a bit catchy, also puting it into reverse was a bit hard at times. After changing oils everything is nice and smooth and absolutely no issues with changing gears anymore. So I wouldn't trust the "lifetime" thing.
