Okay so i thought i had my pressure all figured out. for my car with 19" wheels i have 2.6 front / 2.6 rear for 2 passengers which is normally my maximum. Also its rather firm on that anyway

But then i stumbled across this online owners manual for the M235i and its says different? 2.9 front / 2.9 rear or is it or 3.2 rear.

Any ideas why there is different figures?

Thanks.

More than likely that the online manual is a draft one that was never meant for the public domain?

The manual is giving pressures for 4 people plus luggage, and only differ slightly on the rear compare to what is on the plate in your car?

Go with the car plate anyway, or just adjust them to how you like them and be done with it!

Watts,

Given that you have 19" ie not sidewall I would stay as you are or even adjust them down a tad to say F2.3/R2.4 to see how the ride is and lowering psi will help with traction esp as you have JB4 and a lot E#'s in your tank !

Thing is my tyres are run flats anyway so naturally more firmer than standard tyres. However going too low or too high can cause abnormal tyre wear so the goldy locks rule applies here I guess...

Mine were set at 2.9 when I collected the car which I have now dropped to 2.6. The ride is certainly better and more compliant on an uneven road now

Can we confirm the tyre pressure for 2 people in an M235i is 2.2 front and rear with factory fitted Michelins? Pretty sure I'm reading the sticker correctly but I'd like to be sure before I let a lot of air out, I'm sure they are way higher than that at the moment thanks to BMW!

Sorry to resurrect an older post by me...

I recently upgraded to MPS4 tyres all round, OMG what a difference in grip and ride comfort.

I have set tres to 2.6 | 38psi front / 2.6 | 38psi rear which seem good but I can't help but visually see the rear tyres seem to look like they need just a tad more air to make them a little fuller....

Am I imagining things and just used to the solid firm run crap tyres and my tyres are actually having a bit of give in them which is what the tyres are meant to look like?

Thanks. :)

Front and rear tyres look different to me same brand but the rear tyres come out and loo right here the front ones the tyre doesn't come out as far hard to explain but they don't look identical tyres even though it says they are just different size obviously.

What sizes are they? For example:

A 245 on an 8J rim will obviously 'balloon/bulge' more vs a 225 'stretched' on a 7.5J (not a stretch at all).

225/35/19 are also taller than 245/30/19's, they're not a diameter match. Over 10mm diameter difference.

Yeah I know the profile will be narrower at rears but their is a clear visual difference even before I put them on.

For example:

The 245 30 19 tyre of you look sideways the tyre is like this:

|

(Perfectly vertical straight down)

The 225 35 19 tyre looking down looks like this:

/

(From the tyre on the floor to the sidewall it bulges out)

I hope that makes sense but this is even before I put the tyres on.

Any ideas why this is?

Unfitted profiles mean nothing, that's just how they come out of the mould.

Do the fronts have more of a rim protection bar, to exaggerate the stretched look?

I think the rear tyres have more tread where the front 225 tread isn't as wide as the tyre should be on the alloy.
I bet a 235 at front would of fit better by then it's out of spec.

Could I got away with 235 front / 255 rear on original BMW MP alloys?

235/255 will physically fit but 245 is max width recommended width for 8" wide wheel

Yeah, 245 is the ETRTO max width for an 8" wide rim.

A 235mm would go on the front, but they tend to be too tall. 235/35/19 would be over 17mm bigger on diameter vs the rears, would look like a penny farthing!
