Hey guys.

Driving my car today after not being in it all weekend and the stop/start function was refusing to work. In traffic, engine switches off as usual but then when I took my foot off the brake it wouldn't re start and put the car back into park.

Did it three times before I turned it off on the dash as it was holding people up.

It's done it before on one occasion but never again since today. It completely ruins the feature as I have the fear every time it stops!!!

2013 M135i 9k miles
Any ideas?

Cheers

I have this issue very occasionally with mine. It usually happens at the same point in the journey where I have 2 stops at traffic lights in fairly quick succession. The first one is always fine, the second time it will sometimes not restart when I remove my foot from the brake (it's an Auto) but will restart if I push the throttle pedal. Been checked at dealers and nothing found

That's good to know someone else has had issues, mine will not restart with throttle I have to start it again with the button then put it back into drive. Very annoying!

I guess it's just one of the bugs that comes with having all these fancy systems

I've never had a single issue with mine, 100% reliable. A trip to the dealers sounds needed or at least try and record it and show it to them.

Looks like i'm in the minority that both likes and uses the S/S. No it's not a subtle system and I don't use it when stopped for under a minute but when i'm sat in a 10 minute queue every 1/2 a mile trying to get into Reading it's worth using...

Part of my start up procedure is to disable this.
The system has fail-safes to prevent it working with power demands and low battery - but they are to prevent it stopping not starting!

Dealer will need to take a look.
