I'll probably get crucified for this, but does anyone have any pictures of the M135I with roof bars on?

I do a lot of mountain biking, but I'm not sure that I want them on the top of my car.

Cheers
Another option is a Bosal Orbis removable tow bar to use with a bike rack.

Apparently one can be fitted with a spacer and a little jiggery-pokery, although you can't use it for towing due to no homologation.
Or just bung it in the back. There's a lot of bike theft going on around my area. People get followed home with their expensive bikes on show and before you know it, you've been broken into.
Get a sea sucker bike mount. Easy to mount and is easily removable so you don't have to drive around with roof bars on when you're not carrying the bike.
Will be getting roof bars. Not just mountain bike but roof box for family trips.
Without that I'd have to buy a big, sensible car :)
I'll get you some pics on Sat with roof box on when I get ours fitted
Meanwhile take a look at this thread " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Cheers for the info guys. I ride a lot, so I wouldn't want to be taking the bars on and off all the time. Not sure if I want my £6k bike being held on by suction pads. Wouldn't be able to trust them.
I had VW aero bars permanently attached to a GTD I had, and the whistle used to do my head in. Maybe the bike will have to sit inside and I'll have to be careful and keep it clean

I have a Thule set on mine, works great, easy on and off and stable at high speed.

Ignore the mess of rope below, it was an emergency!

I need a set for my "kajak", i think i'm going for the oem ones. Just waiting if i can buy them cheep online or second hand. The ones i had for my f30 i sold verry recent new in the box for 50% the of new price, buyer was verry happy with them. So now i'm looking for someone that makes me happy :D
+1 for Thule.

I've used them on previous cars for a holidaying roof box and all I had to buy were the feet and the fix point adapter which screws into the mounts on the roof. Screws looked relatively flimsy but they seem to hold on OK.

If you are starting from scratch and want to leave them on, Thule do aero bars which reduce wind resistance and are meant to be quieter although, even with a roof box on and the sunroof cover closed the noise was minimal up to 80ish.

They look pretty good. Are "whispbars" the brand?
What's the noise level like at speed?
Yep, got them through roofbox " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They are quiet at speed, don't notice them unless there's very high wind conditions.

The Whispbars seem the ones to get. Can I ask how much you paid inc the fixings?
One thing I would add if you go for Thule, when pricing up my options on Amazon, it was significantly cheaper to buy the three components than the full kit.

The references for a 2014 5 door are 753 foot pack, 3028 fitting kit and a 961 WingBar or, optionally 761 Square bar
Thule Wingbar Edge for me, smart look, sit low on car/low profile, aerodynamic/quiet, available in black as well as aluminium.

Have a look on roofbox.co.uk
