Hello,

I haven't owned a BMW for about 6 years now but I've been to test drive a 118d auto today.
Very impressed with the car, drives well, auto box seems good. It's 2010 with about 66000 miles on it.

Is the 118d a good choice? Could it be safely mapped to 120d spec?

Just one thing I needed to check, when I opened the bonnet, I noticed one of the camber pins missing from the top mount, but seen a lot of you have removed these anyway. Would this just be a case of making sure it's aligned properly and not worry that the pin has gone? Maybe I could use this as bargaining with the (non-BMW) dealer.

Anyway I really like the 1 series, I'm off to check out an E91 3 series tomorrow. Don't need a car that size but like the look of it, it'll probably convince me the 1 series is better for me.

The 120d has a stronger diff.

Make sure you read up on the N47 timing chain weakness before you commit. The 6 cylinder diesel BMW motor seems to be less problematic... or the earlier M47 4 cylinder.

Yes it can
I've tuned loads without a problem
just some of the 118d as standard have diff problems and the ones I've changed don't look like that have had a diff oil change
These also have chain problems as well as a standard car
