Afternoon all,

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but got several pages through the search results without finding anything so thought I would write a post. Forgive me if it has been mentioned and moderators feel free to delete or move as required!

Just come to the conclusion that the key for the M135i is pretty rubbish. It feels cheap, plasticky and looks the same as a 116d key..... it also feels cheaper than my old Fiat key....

My thoughts were, that if you could buy a blank key for say an X5 (they have lovely metal keys with M branding on) it may be possible to transfer the innards over?

Massive amount of effort for something so petty, however more effort has gone into les meaningful mods before so wondered whether anyone had heard anything about this sort of thing before??

Thoughts?

What about getting the BMW Leather Key cover for it?

Not a huge fan of the leather key case I'm afraid. I agree that changing the trim colour would be nice!

The dream would be to have the BMW i8 key... now that thing is cool!

You have a 1 series. Not a 100 grand 7 series.

The new key is lovely (Deadeye pic) but I hate they way BMW put the m-stripes on the key for any m-sport.....even the X5 40e PHEV I drove last week!

My key has lost its BMW badge after 18 months which makes me sad, particularly when my mum's 2004 e46 is perfect.

It's the BMW way. The more premium cars get the better keys, only fair.

Same goes for the interiors too...

Iirc the msport variants have blue trim on the key while other models have red? If you get muddled I'm sure the trim could be changed

Same goes for all cars that costs more dollars :) I just sat in my bosses new car Volvo XC90 T8.. damn that cockpit look super sleek with all the fucntions one could ever imagine. Well that's what you get when you spend some more..

I like that it is simple and super light. It is function over form for me, you can barely notice it in your pocket whereas my Mercedes key is all heavy and chromed. Sure it feels nicer but in these comfort access days I never touch them. I just want it to sit in my pocket unnoticed.

I loved the style I had in my clio to be honest. Keyless entry so I never had to take it out of my pocket.

True, I guess I have just been used to using an actual key as opposed to just leaving it in my pocket! Actually quite enjoying it being nice and light! Had a 420i x drive msport as a courtesy car today, never been so happy to get back into the m135i!
