Key playing up

Hey guys, any ideas on this would be highly appreciated.

Over the last couple days i've noticed my key has been throwing a strop.

Most of the time the key works perfect, as it should, trying to unlock/lock the car, however over the last couple days I've noticed that its not been responding to me pressing the buttons and takes me a good 5-10 pressed before it eventually decided to work and bare in mind I'm never 5 metres away from the car when it does it.

I initially though it was a battery however after opening the key up, I noticed that the battery seems to be an integral part of the board, so any suggestions?

Cheers

The key is induction charged by the dash, unless you have comfort access (and it sounds like you don't).

How does the other key behave? Could it just be a dodgy button on your usual remote?

Yeah I don't have comfort access and its not just one of the buttons though, its all of them,

It just randomly decides to stop working for a few seconds and then works again, its odd.
Is the other key the same?

I've only ever had one key :(
That's not good! What stops the previous owner from borrowing it with the other key? :eek2:

Yeah i know, purchased it form a second hand dealer and he only ever had one key. Luckily the dealer is located a good 50 miles from me so hopefully no issues there, however I literally just went out to go pick up my sister from school and as i walked out the front door, i pressed the unlock button, it unlocked fine but instantly locked itself again without me touching anything, then i re unlocked it and it was fine.

Weirddddddd
Let this be a lesson - if buying a car with one key, get a quote from a dealer to programme a spare.

In BMW'S case it's about £160.

Knock that off whatever the settlement price is or give the person selling it a chance to do it. If not walk away.

You need to get a spare/new key.
I would get a new key sharpish and ask bmw to code out the old second key so it can't be used just incase it is kicking around somewhere.
