Manc,

Yes map 2 and stock DP are OK provided you are using latest FW on your JB4. Latest FW has both maps 1 and 2 with partial adaptions, which are fixed once JB4 as 'learnt' the settings,[as opposed to map 5 which autotunes regularly.

You may find very little difference between map 1 and map 2 with stock DP but as mentioned above, using SULP you will be fine. To ensure map 2 adaptions 'learn up' as much as possible, switch to map 2 then do 3 WOT pulls in 3rd gear 2k to redline one after the other.

Map 5 is also fine on stock DP BTW. Enjoy !

Just been looking at N54 tech to check for any recent updates, the update list is as below:

File Type: hex N55_F_POSITAP_EWG_3_31.hex (64.4 KB, 394 views)
File Type: hex N55_F_POSITAP_PWG_8_13.hex (66.3 KB, 331 views)
File Type: hex N55_OBDII_EWG_5.hex (70.6 KB, 249 views)
File Type: hex N55_OBDII_PWG_5.hex (72.5 KB, 172 views)

I take it 3_31hex is the latest? Sure this was released over a year ago, is that right?

Correct, I'm using POSITAP EWG 3_31 with partial adapting maps 1 and 2.

BMS have stated they don't intend to continue updating POSITAP FW beyond this version. OBDII FW is what they are supporting / update currently and in the future.

I've recently switched back to map 5 after some issues with drivetrain errors on WOT. Seems OK lately though so hoping I can keep in map 5 cos as much as I love my map6 which I'd probably use on track, map 5 is just MENTAL :lol2:

In the wet be careful on map 5 I will guarantee it will spin if you go full throttle so be prepared for that as its a very aggressive setup with a lot more boost low down the range and less progressive like standard but in a good way mind. In the summertime and dry days you will have even more fun and get to see its full potential.

What I enjoyed the most when I had mine fitted was how much power it seems to have at higher speed, it was real fun just cruising at 70 then kicking down a gear and watching the car pull like crazy... Oh man that drive back after it was fitted was awesome... Fly splatter on the front of my car was a ball ache though... :lol2:

Hello,
Just installed it (OBDII version) last week on my stock M135i xDrive (EWG), plugged in the FF/MAP/TMAP cables (no EWG cable was supplied).
Only drove in map 1 so far and already love the added boost.

From this topic, I see that I can/could select map 2 as I've always ran with 98RON.
I had always thought that map 2 was for modded vehicles only, so it isn't the case any longer?

Am I safe to run with map 2?

Being a stock car without the extra EWG harness, to give JB4 direct control of higher additive boost levels, you will be fine switching to map 2.

You may not gain much as any differential in target boost btw maps1 and 2 may not be realised without extra EWG harness installed.

However, try it and feedback.
