Hey everyone maybe a dumb question. Car shows 4000 miles till service. But yesterday the colour changed to yellow and then said service 02/2016... The cars just covered 10k on clock and it's 2 years old.
By it changing to yellow does that mean the service is now due? Ps I don't have a service plan so any idea of costs for an oil change?

Cheers

2 years or 18k miles - whichever comes first to strictly follow schedule. Up to you as car should shout itself - check service menu.

My last 1er got first service at 10k miles and only 18 months after registration but had been built 6 months before that. Clock starts ticking from build date

Out of interest can you request the car to go in for its service earlier than the idrive dictates?

My car is a March 2014 car and is now pinging me to say an oil service is due. I've done 9500 miles during that time.

Slightly off topic but what did people (without a service pack) pay for their first oil service?

I've been quoted £302 by the dealer which seems excessive for a first oil change. After asking for a break down of the cost, turns out £125 of it relates to the oil!

I told them that I'd supply the oil myself without actually knowing what oil it needs....

Am I right in thinking its Castrol Professional LL04 0W-30? Anyone have any ideas how many litres the M135i actually takes?

Depends who'd paying! If it's you, they'll do whatever you pay them to. If it's a Service Pack job, you have to wait until the car is complaining.

Mine went in for it's 3rd service at 20k, 1st official digital SH 'stamp'.

So I could stick it in now and get a service done but I won't get the digital stamp until I get at service at the 2 year/18k point?

My thinking was getting it in early, get the stamp and start the next interval. If that can't be done I be as well change out the oil and filter my self.

No.

You can get the stamp now and start the next interval early, no issues there. Mine went in 4k earlier than it needed.
