The car won't recognise my iPod connected through the Aux input in the arm rest. I've tried a cheapy Ebay 'Y' cable as well as the £50- BMW version, each will play using 'play' but the car's interface doesn't recognise tracks etc. The iPod itself is a few years old, but has current software.

Any suggestions?

thanks

Hmm. The first thing I did was try the Apple USB cable with the same (non) result. My iPod is a few years old, is that the real problem?
