47,000 miles so figured it needed doing.
Struggled to find anyone in Oxfordshire but £775 quoted by BMW dealer( very helpful chap in service),local mini specialist with the walnut blast kit £310.
Read up loads decided to have a go myself, loads of videos on YouTube .
Bought several brass brushes inc £12.50 gun cleaning kit and carb/ intake cleaner, new intake gaskets.
All came apart fairly easily, dreaded electrical connector came off easy, probably loosened when the fuel pump had been done under recall.
They definitely needed doing but not as bad as some pictures I have seen.(sorry no photos) my bad!Halfway through I wished I hadn't started but it was worth it in the end.Acheived a really good result with picks and airline to help with blasting ,got a little bit high from the fumes also I think :lol2: .
Intake was a bit tricky to slot back in due to rear intake pipe.
Changed plugs and oil at the same time, but still saved a tidy sum.
Fired up straight away no problems, felt smoother off idle, but not had chance to fully test.Green light to carry on modding!

Not really.

The walnut blasting is the best and most effective way of cleaning the intake. It works very well.

If you look through the forums you will find pictures and threads showing where walnut pieces had found their way up into the rocker cover oil passageways via the small port in the intake.Possibly operator error ,but made me think !
