Hey,

So I was thinking of tightening up the rear of my 130i a bit more when I'm changing my suspension to a Bilstein B12 kit in a few weeks. I see many put in the whiteline bush inserts into the rear subframe bushes but apparently doesn't cure all of the rear end slop? Has anyone installed M3 rear suspension bushes on the subframe? Was it worth it / how much did it cost etc?

Does anyone have pert numbers for the bushes?

Thanks

One of the most important mods to do, polybhshes are much easier to fit as they can be fitted on the floor in place but the frame might need to be removed to fit full m3 bushes unless you have nice tools

In my opinion what's the point in fitting any other nice suspension parts to the rear when the axle/frame has the abilty to move on its own

I have had poly bushes and now m3 bushes and there is very little extra NVH if any at all

There is also very little difference in feel from poly bushes and m3 bushes, and poly bushes are far easier to fit

It was 2 years ago so got no part numbers
Bought them off ebay
You need 2 different kits for the rear frame

I had the M3 bushes fitted to my E87 about 6 years ago. Best mod ever! Totally transforms the way the car steers and changes direction :)

To fit the poly bushes (not the inserts) do you still have to drop the whole sub frame off the car?

I have done it In place on the car by lowering the axle a few inches not easy but doable

I drilled out the strength out of the Bush then pushed it out

Keep an eye on the brake pipes and handbrake cables

Thanks for the info, I'll have to have a look how much room I have between the exhaust and the subframe. Would be so much easier to do it without having to remove the exhaust and subframe!!

I did take off the back box when I did mine and just used 2 jacks to lower the Axle enough

I've heard good things about the whiteline/powerflex inserts, plus like others have already stated they are easier to fit. But like yourself I ask myself would the M3 bushes be that much better over the inserts and if so by how much and would the extra cost and extra fitment hassle be worth it?

Has anyone gone from inserts to full on bushes m3 ones or any others types?

Don't know if you've ordered your b12 kit but I have some 4,000 mile old brids b1 shocks and springs for sale currently. Will go straight on, see the for sale section if interested.

I put the whiteline inserts in mine. They sit in hardness terms between the yellow and black powerflex. Make a difference for sure and is a must do, whatever you choose will improve the car.
