As per the title, my iDrive (head unit) shut down and rebooted itself twice this week on my 15 plate M235i after about 10 mins of driving.

Symptoms were blank screen, followed by 'loading navigation...' then all seemed OK after that.

Is this some kind of over-the-air update or the beginning of a problem? Anyone else experienced this?

My December 15 m-lites done the same thing a couple of times.....don't know why.

A previous car also did something similar and required a new relay or something.

I've updated the SW via the USB twice now - is that the same as the dealer will do?

Just out of interest guys, does your DAB drop out a little too frequently too, just had my headunit changed and software update and its spot on now, was also rebooting a couple of times a week. Had a new rear window fitted too as the heated element is also the DAB aerial.

No obvious DAB problems for me. Drops-out in the same places that FM breaks up.

DAB is ok for 5-Live commentary but poor dynamic range for music (for which I always use FM).

I only listen to FM as I haven't been impressed with DAB.

My DAB seems pretty good to me.... Am I right in thinking it hops itself onto FM using RDS if it can? Seems to - but I was only half paying attention...

There was an over-the-air nav data update pushed out this week - that might have resulted in a nav reboot. Mine asked if I wanted to restart nav to load the new data.

Went into Sytner High Wycombe today. A Tech told me that he was unaware of any over-the-air updates that may do this but he said there was a known problem relating to receiving a lot of emails on my iPhone causing iDrive to crash & reboot. Not sure I buy this...
