Hi All,
Hoping some of you can help me out with an issue I MAY have on my F20 125d with the B47 engine. I've read extensively about how fewer timing chain issues occur with this engine over the N47, however I have recently grown concerned it may need to be replaced. The car is on 91,000 miles with 5 services to date spaced out every 15-18k miles.
Why?
I have noticed on cold starts in cold weather, after about 5ish seconds of idling, the car seems to have a slightly lumpy period where the revs bounce a little bit ( +-50 rpm, not misfiring as such) for another 5 seconds before settling down.
I also notice that after 40 miles on the motorway, I can feel more vibration than I can after shorter trips or just turning the car on.
Lastly, I scanned the car today, and found the fault code 273D00 - Engine speed monitoring: Difference between Crankshaft and Camshaft positions too high.
Its my first diesel, am I being paranoid about normal cold weather behaviour or is this a sign the timing chain needs to be replaced? I bought the car from a dealer 3.5 months ago.
Hoping some of you clever folk can share some light on the issue.
Many thanks
