Heater panel direction query.

650 Views 15 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Fraggle
As you can see on the pic the right side of the heater is set to the 3 positions, but the left side only has 2. If I scroll through with the heater button on the right it gives me the different directions including all 3 but no matter how many times I press the button on the left it will only give me the maximum of 2 directions. Is this right or am I doing something wrong?

It's weird how the heater button shows the 3 directions. Unless the drivers side does both sides for the highest setting?
Driver gets control of the windscreen. It's the other way around on left-hookers.

Thought it might do. It doesn't bode well with my ocd though! :)
Your OCD can't be that bad, I've got a mate who wouldn't be happy with 20.5 degrees! Only whole numbers, and I think only even numbers iirc!!!! :lol2: :lol2:

Normally they are the same. I miss my "all" button. The Mrs likes it really hot on her side. Drives me crazy.
The icon for air flow direction is quite misleading - it has three streams of air which all appear to flow horizontally at different heights. It would be a lot less confusing if the icon showed what actually happens, which is that there are two horizontal air streams (from the floor vents and the face vents), and one going vertically upwards, towards the windscreen. That would then make it obvious why there are differences between the driver and passenger controls. It's not helped by there being a separate windscreen demist button as well, which actually seems to be "max demist" for the windscreen; i.e. full power on the fan, maximum heat, all air sent in that direction.

The HVAC panel is not, IMO, a great piece of ergonomic design!

:lol2: Exactly the same as Mrs Frag, and I was convinced she was the only freak with this affliction. I will confess to adjusting the temp by 0.5° when she's not watching just to inflict some mental distress :D
Not just me then - in my car, heater temps can only be even numbers, or ones that divide by 2.5. So 17.5, 18, 20, 22, 22.5 are all acceptable - no others. Ever. And both sides must be the same... :)

You need help mate :lol2: :lol2:
Just to add, the LCI only does 1° increments now.
How do you get it to do 1 deg increases then? A setting in the idrive?

Mine shows an arrow pointing down, up and centre as opposed to how it's shown in the picture by the original poster.

Mine doesn't - 0.5 degree increments in C, 1 degree increments in F.

That's why I asked if it was an option in idrive as the pic I posted is an lci, only 5 weeks old.
Sorry chaps I'm mistaken, it was the Gran Tourer I had as a loaner that did 1° increments, also had the sync button.
