Please tell me there's some kind of fix in the works for this, I've now done just over 1k miles and it's gotten very loud today!

I think its quote a common issue.
Read this quite a lot.
When does it hiss?
Not when playing music surely? Is it only when the stereo is switched off?
Mine doesnt hiss, its on a 64 plate if it makes any difference.
If you listen hard, with the engine off and your ear close to the tweeter, they all hiss. Some more than others.

My HK hisses. The little Denon HiFi in the bedroom hisses when the tone controls are used. Every high end valve amplifier has a type of hiss called "tube rush". A lot of high end solid state amplifiers like all Naim amps have terrible transformer hum. These are HiFi's that cost more than any BMW.

My only suggestion is to forget it. That's what I have done because once in the move I just can't hear it and it has no effect on the audio / sound quality.

Just saying. Not being horrible.

This morning it's gone, it was so loud last night it's the first time I've noticed it. Took a video of the sound that I'll upload later.

The only difference was I closed down all my iphone apps before getting in. Might it be related to one of the bmw apps communicating with the car?
This has started on my replacement M235. Never happened in the rejected car!

It's actually quite a notable sound

Completely agree with Paul here, my father has a large Naim system attached to Kef Reference 207's and 205's. When nothing is being played but the system is powered on there is a slight hiss from them, but as soon as they receive an input the hiss stops. Any decent set of speakers will do the same
Just noticed a quiet hissing from the HK tweeters on my brand new M140i that I picked up yesterday. Its quiet, and I only hear it when engine isn't running and no music playing. Will try the above tip to close all iPhone apps. need to experiment if same or worse with USB connection or Bluetooth, but expect it is an EMI effect of the cars electrical architecture.
