I've just seen a full set of speakers + subs pop up locally to me. Taken out of another E82 coupe, would it be possible to drop these into mine with relatively little faff?

Pretty certain I've got the more basic options + CCC Nav + door tweeters (non oem).

They'll plug and play, you just won't get the full benefit if you don't have an amped system as the L7 speakers are all 4ohm so take more to drive.

If you have base audio as it stands (no tweeters in the front doors), you'll need the rear parcel shelf trim too. Usually pretty cheap though, mine were about £10 a side IIRC.

If the car is local, is there any hope of getting the L7 amp and wiring too?

So I've got tweeters in the doors at the moment, the housing triangle thing is JBL branded. Which is what makes me think it has the base + the tweeters added. However at some point in its life my car has had a lotta audio stuff. Cables running here there and everywhere.

Under the drivers seat there's a grille in the floor, is that the sub? I haven't checked the passenger side.

I'll enquire about the cables and amp etc.

@Nyxeris OK this is the amp and it's available too. Would I need the whole harness? No idea what wiring to ask for. Car is local ish.

Should be a sub under those grilles, and on both sides if your car is pre-2009. After 2009 it's a bit of a gamble – you might have one under both seats, you might just have one under the driver's sear, or you might have one under the passenger seat but not wired in.

JBL kit isn't standard/original, might be worth pulling a door card/sub grille off to see what the speakers are in there? If someone already did the wiring for you, an aftermarket setup might be much less faff!

You need the fibre optic cable from the head unit to the amp, and the power wiring for the amp at the least. Not actually certain, could be worth searching for a full retrofit thread to double check as I'm not 100% on what's necessary, looked at it a very long time ago now!

you'll need most cable from AMP to MOST concentrator and also all wiring from AMP - 20-pin connector with 6 channels to speakers and two wire to power and ground

Nyxeris is right on the money as always, the Harmon Kardon amp is digital, so uses fibre optic. Would have to do a decent chunk of work to get it to function as the factory, but anything is possible!

I have one of the Focal 4.320 amps new in the box. I’m tempted to go for the Audiotec-Fischer MATCH UP 7BMW amp, so I would be happy to sell the 4.320. If you can be tempted by the Focal, let me know. 😁

Thanks all for the responses here and apologies for my delayed response!

Looks like I shouldn't bother with the HK stuff as I really don't fancy re-doing EVERY cable and headunit etc to go fibre.

I will probably just leave it all as is for now. I do need to actually check if my speakers are actually original, because it does sound good. And like I mentioned before there has definitely been some messing done in the past by previous owners. I have what was clearly an audio adjustment knob tucked in the cubby above the headlight switch. Plus all the audio cables running here there and everywhere!
