Ah, I see. I was thinking more along the lines of a simple stickied thread, where if someone buys something they reply saying the seller is good and trusted.

Would take a fair bit of moderation though to keep it clean?

Yeah, it would need to be ruled though where your post literally has the name of the user exactly as it is here and a line or two about your experience.

The moment a post is 'oh do you have a number' or something like that, gets deleted. That's what PM's are for.

I'm a a key member of a few other forums, we have a thread that is just for reputation. You state what you bought, who it was bought from and you state the experience good or bad. Any discussions or arguments get deleted.

Simple as that.

We thought of reputation systems but members could be childish and just vote people down for no reason, so we decided against it and did a simple stickied thread. I've put the same thing in place on a number of forums and it works, no problem at all.

Yeah that's it mate, simple name and 'all went great' is all that's needed. Or a little 'takes a while to reply because of work commitments, but sorts it's all out fine' etc

Yup, that's how they are . "I bought xyz from abc, good seller. Communicated well and kept me up to date".

Simples .

Most of the people who've lied and cheated on here, have been longer term members, who upon deciding to leave, decide they can cheat someone out of their goods/money

These people might very well have had a good 'Reputation'

The only thing I can see it helping with, is you'd be able to see a history of folk they might have traded woth in the past, so as to find out where they live etc.

Anything which gives any buyer a completely false sense of security is misleading & unhelpful. Buyer beware.
