I think it depends on fl or prefl. On my prefl ihad to tap into the number plate cable and switch a few others around. Then a little bit of coding

Yeah high darklines are plug and play on E82's with these rear lights -

But they changed the rear lights to darkline lows I think from 2011 onwards so yes I think they need wiring but I can't find anyone who's fitted darkline highs to a car with darkline lows.
