Fitting darklines

805 Views 14 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Wilko120d
Can anybody help with fitting darklines? My car currently has the low darklines (with the non LED strips) but I'd like to fit the high darklines (with the LED strips).
How hard is it?

Thanks :D

Is it just the case of swapping a few wires around?
I think it depends on fl or prefl. On my prefl ihad to tap into the number plate cable and switch a few others around. Then a little bit of coding :)

So fairly straight forward then mate?
Yeh, the hardest bit is taking all the boot trim out to be honest

Hahaha, I agree with you there :lol2: I'll be in touch once I get my hands on a set :D
Aren't they plug and play on the e82's?

Just on the e87 & e81 they're a bit fiddly :lol2:
Oh e82, no idea hahah

Not on mine mate, I already have darklines but they're the "low" versions which they don't have LED strips in them!
Yeah high darklines are plug and play on E82's with these rear lights -

But they changed the rear lights to darkline lows I think from 2011 onwards so yes I think they need wiring but I can't find anyone who's fitted darkline highs to a car with darkline lows.

Not helpful sorry HB

Yeah you're correct Twenny, they changed them to the low darklines! I hate how my tail light strips don't light up, I just have the horrible basic bulb :(

Not a problem buddy, I wouldn't mind knowing if someone has attempted to do it
Do you have front xenons? I believe you might need a newer frm module v2 and above support xenons, and thus the higher darklines etc.

Nope, I have halogen headlights mate!
Just because you only have halogens, doesn't necessarily mean the FRM won't support xenons etc.
