Ive been trying to source some rear brakes to match my big fronts, not for stopping power but for looks i see there has been a few sets on here lately but they are either miles away or to expensive, anyway i found a set local to me for the right money, they have only covered 3k and are like new apart storage marks.
I done a trial fitting today the caliber's bolt up perfect but the disk's don't fit the top hat is to deep this has been covered before and people say the only solution is to fit 135i hubs which are 10mm wider, I'm not going to go down this route as its far to expensive so here is what I've found so far.

The yellow BMWP rear brakes have a different part number but are identical to the ones off the 135i (grey ones ) think the part number change is due to the colour difference as i took measurements off both today and they are identical.
So the caliber's fit no prob's its just the disk's thats the issue bmw list these disk's( 34216795755 324x22mm which is the correct size ) and state they are for a the 130i with BMWP rear calipers so if i fit these I'm assuming the brakes will fit as i can't see any other reason why they won't as its only the larger diameter which is needed.

So if anyone has the BMWP rears and fancy's measuring the disk's (top hat to face ) would be greatly appreciated there is no way I'm going to fit new hubs so alternatively i will get some custom disk's made up please feel free to post your experiences.

Thanks Mark

I didn't fit the BMWP brakes to my 130i so don't know the part number (sounds like the one you quoted is the right bit though), but I can't believe you'll have to change your Hubs to do so. I won't be able to get a wheel off the car, but I'll see if I can get you a quick measurement tomorrow.

Ok thanks guys I spoke to Cotswolds BMW and they are sending out the correct disks which are the part number that I found.
I will do a quick bolt up when they arrive just to make sure fitment is correct then I just need to paint the calipers to match the front's
I will update with a guide a pics later.

Cheers

Little update i received the disk's today from cotswolds and tried a dummy fit up , and they fit perfect only took me 15 mins here's a couple of pics of them on , just need painting then when i get a bit of time i will fit them up :D

When i researched doing the conversion i found very little info and everyone said you need a hub conversion , you lose the handbrake , some fit some don't so look below for what you need its a very simple conversion.

It you are considering this conversion on your 130i or 123d these are the bits you need.

135i rear calipers or BMWP rear calipers the only difference is the colour hence the different part number thats it.
Part number 34216795755 BMWP rear disk's

God knows why people change hubs etc is beyond me and the handbrake works just fine.

Thanks Mark

This has always been the case for the E81/87 130i and the 123d. BMW offer the BMWP kit for these two models only in the hatch range.

The issue with regards to fitting 135i hubs comes into play for the lower powered E81/82/83/87 cars (e.g 116d etc) as without them or the hubs from the 130i or 123d they wont go on!

The Coupe also has different disc sizes (as you have found) as the Coupe has a wider rear track. So you have 1 set of rear discs for the 123d & 130i hatch models and then 1 set of rear discs for the coupe models.

It all gets very confusing!

Nice to see you have got them on the car though - what colour are you painting them?

Was that a heatproof paint?
Nah never had any issues with using normal paint even after track work, as long as it's applied correctly it will be fine , use a good clear coat and jobs a gooden.

Good work ive often wondered what the crack was with this and glad to see its just a case of getting the right disc to make the conversion :)
So easy to do ,just a complete lack of info out there, no wonder the rear calipers never sell .

Any pictures of your brakes available mate.. I was originally planning to do something like canary yellow heatproof for mines.

I'm contemplating estriol blue now after you mentioned it.

Its pretty close, hard to tell without the clear coat but i doubt you will notice a difference once on the car, but if its that far out i will match the fronts with the same paint.
