After 15000 miles of no oil top ups at all, I was driving around today and it popped up with a "bong" Please add 1l oil level minimum with the engine in yellow colour.
Now as is bloody typical, it's a Sunday and I was miles from anywhere in the Lake District, and had no chance of making it to a BMW dealer before they closed.
So I went for some lunch and got back to the car to head home, no oil level warning to be seen anywhere.
A few miles later bong please add 1l at the first opertunity. I have got the car home now but I would say I have driven maybe 60-70 miles since the first bong. It's another 12 miles to BMW tomorrow, will I incur any damage?
I didn't have a clue what type of oil it would need so I couldn't even just stop and buy some at a random fuel station.
I avoided revs etc after the first warning also. Reassure me guys
