Hi guys,
My lease comes to an end this month, 2 years has flown. I got an upto date price to buy my vehicle yesterday. £22249.
I mailed back an offer of 19k, this is around WBAC and the lower average cap value. Today I received an updated price £20500. Also stating that this is the lowest they are willing to sell the car to me for.

The question is, is it worth it? What's your thoughts? If I go ahead the car will have cost me in total £30331 from an original list price including options of £35500 I think. Discount works out around 14.5%.
Obviously the main advantage is I kept 15k in my bank from the sale of my previous car and I haven't paid interest on a 12k loan I was going to take out to fund a trl special. So if I factor that in its turned out pretty well but do I want to buy it out right or move on? Had my eye on an e46 m3, always liked them, want one before the good ones disappear or go up in value. But to give a car I've had from new up...

Spec is
2014(14)
14k
Estoril
Auto box
Adaptive
Heated seats
Black panel
Comfort pack
Sun pro pack

Two year old auto for 20k and you know the history of the car as you've had it?

If you're still enjoying it I say go for it mate. Unless you really fancy a change....

Cheers guys, I was a bit surprised that they came down. Had my head set on another car. Confused.

What's the other car mate?
I fancied an e46 m3. Carbon black coupe, manual.

If that's the price WBAC offer, surely it'll be worth a few grand extra for a private sale?

Buy it and then sell it to pocket the profit, that's if you don't want to keep it.
WBAC offered £19k I think. Cap value was a bit more.

Great car in their day but they're getting on a bit now. M135i everytime. Or push the boat out and V8 m3.....

I would buy it as it will cost probably only 60% of what the lease payment have been so far for the 2 years to come in depreciation.

Also, this £20.5k (minus lease outgoings) that you didn't spend for 2 year could be valued as an opportunity at 2%/year at least so £500 approx.

Hey presto, price down to £20k.

I have both, e46 m3 in Laguna Seca Blue and the m135i. M3 Is very special to drive and only use it the odd weekend to try and keep the mileage low.

The m135i is the better daily and alot better on mpg. More modern, more comfortable.

Running costs/servicing is alot more on the E46 M3. I paid an eye watering £850ish for a inspectionII service couple of months by a indy, BMW wanted £1200'ish. The M135i is slighty quicker than the m135i and alot cheaper to run.

Theyre both fantastic, you will not go wrong with either one. Just bear in mind the running costs on the E46 M3.

You've not helped me one bit there Hero. :lol2:
My man maths is working over time. I feel i'll loose more money on the M135 over the next 2 years but admit that the M3 is an old car (10 year 06plate) and felt old compared to the m135 on a test drive.
I know its a bit late but quarry motors sheffield do an inpsection 2 for £470+vat, local stealers wanted £900 inc vat.

I like your math, it makes sense to buy it but i've got an itch. Seriously struggling, I want someone to buy the car i looked at and make my mind up for me. How sad is that.

Your man maths is actually correct, if the m3 is kept clean, you will hardly lose anything. No depreciation.

If you do decide to go for one, make sure you have it up on ramps before buying, and have the boot floor checked, as theyre known to crack where the subframe is bolted on.

Can't justify both, only do about 6k per annum, if you could only have one what would it be?

Well id be the wrong guy to ask haha. I sold my previous e46 m3 to have it replaced by the m135i, only to go out and buy another m3 in a matter of couple of months as i missed the raspy sound of the exhaust, fantastic throttle responce and the amazing planted feel on the car.

Power and torque is better in the m135i. Imo the raspy sound on the e46 m3 and handling is alot better on the m3.
M135i alot smoother, comfier and more family friendly with 5 doors and softer ride.

Its a tough choice.... maybe an E92 M3 would be best of both?

So I've made my mind up.
Took leaseplan up on their offer and bought the mlite outright.
Just ordered a MPE from our forum sponsor Cotswolds and in the process of sorting out a front splitter off Gazp to freshen the car up a bit. :spotman: Next maybe springs and wheels.
Looks like I'll be hanging around here a bit longer. :)
