Hi, I've just had the performance exhaust fitted and like the sound of it when the valves open so in sport but when its closed in comfort and eco it doesn't sound as good. Am I right in thinking unplugged the valve control when its open will leave it open? If so what do you do with the cable once unplugged?

Please don't advise just drive it in sport everywhere as I drive it for work and like the feel of comfort and the odd bit of eco.

Cheers

Your JB4 (when fitted) will allow you to have the Canflaps open when you want.:wink:
Yeah this was the other option, but the JB4 is a backburner plan for the moment so wondered if unplugging t would work for now :)

i did this for a while unplugged it, there is a bracket holding the wire think i jammed it behind there, make sure you unplug the wire when the engine is off when its off the flap is open..
Ok did you get any error codes or anything?

Same here, been running with it unplugged for over 6 months, no issues whatsoever and the car has been in for service during that time.

I just cable tied the plug to something nearby, can't remember exactly.

Nothing mate, I was told it would probably record an error in the background but it never tells you on the dash or anything.

I did some 'benchmarking' on mine the other day with my m performance exhaust, and due to the squeaky nature of my valve I found the following
Comfort/Eco/Traction
1st = Open
2nd and higher = Closed >1300rpm, opens >3000rpm and ~60% pedal

Sport/Sport+
1st = Open
2nd = Open
3rd and higher = Open on accelerator, closed in overrun

Therefore you would only gain noise where the valve is shut, i.e. Low rpm in comfort. This should be the same for the standard exhaust aswell

I have a video of a full load pull away with the exhaust if people are interested. Go Pro is mounted to the number plate

So you'd loose some of the pops and burbles on the over run if you had the valve permanently open but you'd get rid off the tractor like neighbour annoying noise on cold start.
