Exhaust options E82 135i

980 Views 20 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Stevienew
Hello, looking to change std exhaust on my 08 135i .looking for a bit more tone and free flowing.golf tee mod already done, sounds great on cold start, but then dulls down somewhat.
Looked at m performance @£775 + which retains std size silencer and deletes middle silencer with y pipe, everything else is from America or just milltek, secondary cat back (tips look cheap).
What has everyone else tried or recommend.Ideally would like a bolt on system or axle back.

I've got the full milltek system non resonated with race cats in the mids and catless downpipes, it sounds mint and its really quiet on the motorway. the black tips look cheap but i got the stainless tips. its not cheap but i know a milltek dealer and got it for basically half of the retail price
Have you looked at doing the exhaust mod were u open the back box up and heat wrap the perforated pipe to make it the same as performance exhaust for less than £100
I will look up on the inter web to learn!

Cut open your standard box, weld perforated pipes and you have same as BMPE for 1/10 of the price or for zero if you can do it yourself.

I will be recording sound of my car this weekend can post it up in this thread.

Just saw you message before me. I will do video this weekend;) will be good to supplement sale of my baby.
I like the look of the berk technology system, full bolt on from down pipes back.
I can't go too loud as I work shifts though,or sod it if it makes me happy :lol2:
Find options but all from America, import duty and taxes bumps up the prices or uk suppliers with lead times, obviously no stock!
Would like to keep std system intact as an option to put it back on for re-sale.
Milltek is looking like my only uk based option at the moment.
Interested to hear what other forum members have experienced/ done so far.
Berk is mega loud lol
This is how mine sounds. Was a bit cold but I gave few minutes for car to warm up.

I've got the dealer fitted BMWPE on mine, still puts a smile on my face (but not the neighbours at 6.45am :lol2: ) but mines a N55 car, so a little louder than a N54 as there's no cats in the mids on N55.

Sounds nice that mate. Will have to do that mod me thinks
Leaning towards, getting the bmwpe inc the y pipe to delete the middle resonator.Gives me several options; just put on the pe backbox leaving middle res on,y pipe on delete middle resonator,n55 mids and pe back box and finally n55 mids ,y pipe, and pe backbox if I'm not mis informed.I sometimes leave or arrive at 3 am from work, keep going till someone complains :lol2:
YouTube clip does sound good though!
Come from a 530i E60, love what you can do with these n54 engined cars.I think if you use mhd flasher you have the option to suspend cold start up?
When u say y pipe were abouts does that fit after downpipes or somewhere else
Where the rear silencer bolts to the mids there Is a small silencer /resonator.
The pe exhaust comes with a "y" pipe that you have to cut into the mids and re- join with clamps therefore deleting the resonator after the axleback silencer, therefore more noise.
Some people just bolt the silencer on only.

And then realise that's a big mistake and have to get back under the car to fit the Y-pipe delete :lol2:
Cut away then! :D
