Right chaps apologies for copying old threads but I need some advice.

A local credited/quality garage is doing a service for me on my 123d E82 2009 car is at 86000 miles and had a major service last year in BMW approx 12000 miles ago.
First things first I've read many of threads regarding the different engine oils available on the market ie Castrol edge but also read a bit about BMW changing to shell?
What is the specific oil that people are going with or would recommend?
Secondly, I've started to notice my gear changing isn't feeling as smooth as it used to feel, my first thought is to change the gearbox oil as I doubt that has been done before, so what oil people recommend for this? Or what other solutions to give a smoother gear change?
With the mileage of the car is there anything I should be getting inspected on the car with regards to the engine for example the timing chain?
Discs and pads were all changed last year and wheels are being fully refurbed in gunmetal grey in the coming weeks :).

Any help is much appreciated people

Thanks

Scott

Don't forget the Diff oil. The Differential is far more likely to give expensive trouble than the box. Needs to be sucked out with a big syrings as there's no drain plug.

The engine oil spec is LL04, I use Castrol Edge FST 0W30 personally. 75W80 GL4 for the box, and 75W90 GL5 for the diff. I like Redline MTL for a stiff BMW box:
Very tricky to inspect your chain, which is a massive shame. :(

Engine take 5.2L, Diff 1L & Box 1.6L

I like Opie Oils (online), but shop around too.

Right guys so using opieoils for the gearbox and differential oil it's gonna cost £50.88. For someone who's not very experienced with this sort of work is it a capable job? Just I've rang round a few indy's and got quotes of £130 and £140 that's with BMW oil apparently. Is there anything I would need to be cautious of doing it myself?
