The search for a suitable rear spoiler for my E88 convertible continues ! anyone here with a convertible ever managed to find one outwith the genuine BMW one ? the E82 uses a different bootlid shape to the convertible so it's a no go with using one from this model. anyone here ever found one ? anyone bought one off those small boot lip slim profile ones available on ebay painted in the car colour ? May be my only option !

I'm going to bite the bullet and buy this one this weekend mate, Once it arrives, I will be the Guinea pig here and find out if what the seller says is true, that it'll fit the e88.
Can't argue for £59 bud fingers crossed for you mate

Okay funny enough received a reply back from them when I enquired regards 100% suitable fitting for the convertible and this is what they said "

Hi John,

we sold them also for the convertible and somebody says they fit and somebody no.
But i have got no 100% Security!
I am sorry.
But i think it fit!

Make off that what you can, personally I don't think it will reason being is as we know the E82 spoiler does not fit the convertible due to the bootlid having a slightly different shape so this is sold for the E82 and e88 convertible, it surely can only fit one not both ??!!
good luck if you go ahead thou mate, you planning on having it sprayed the colour off your car ?

I'll probably give it a go and if not sell it for what I pay for it and the spraying, I'll be doing it in a gloss black pal. As I have a gloss diffuser and be getting a black gloss front lip too!
Sounds lovely and fingers crossed for you mate . being German would imagine it will be decent enough quality. keep us posted if you will.
I've got a carbon spoiler on my E88 that should be for an E82.. no problem at all fitting. (2 man job though to hold it in place while the bond set)

Appreciate the boots are slightly different in dimensions but no where near enough for it to make a difference to fitting a spoiler..

Forgive the ****e picture, but as you can see.. fits perfectly..

What bond did you use mate and how long to hold down? Cheers
Okay thanks mate appreciate the info, strange as done a good bit of research on the subject and not one uk seller said the e82 spoiler will fit comfortably on the convertible due to the shape being different and indeed different enough for both ends of the spoiler to stick up and not sit flush, this was also confirmed by loads off convertible owners on 1 addicts who are all looking for a suitable spoiler to suit, the only one being the oem bmw performance parts version which sadly is out off my price range !

do you happen to have a link to the one you have and also any chance off a few better pictures ?
again thanks for your input on the subject appreciate that.
You do have to hold it in position till it bonds which isn't a problem as the spoiler has enough flex. Just took a bit of patience and some serious bonding. I used Tiger Seal. I used some grips to hold it in place. Reckon about 30 mins as we fit the diffuser while it set.

I'll be putting another one on soon as I've managed to damage it.. Im just going to repeat the previous effort.. & likely going to use SSDD or MStyle. Sorry don't have a link as I bought it from ebay well over 12 months ago..

Out of interest - how much are BMWs official version?

M Style reckon theirs is for 82 / 88.. Pricey though...
sure the bmwp ones was around 400 quid or so ? what wheels you got on 18" ?
They're Alufelgen CS7 wheels, Front - 18x8.5 ET40, Rear - 18x9.5 ET45. I think they look superb.

They sit perfectly under the arches..

okay thanks for the info on the wheels, can I ask what tyres you are running on them and any rubbing issue with rear passengers ? what damage is on your spoiler ? paintwork only ?
