Hi All,

I'm hoping you can help with some ideas as to what may have caused some fairly major problems on my 2009 E87 118d.

Got in the car this afternoon after having driven it this morning with no issues, started it up and got the full Christmas tree effect. Basically I've got the following problems:

No ABS, heavy steering (still some assistance), no airbags, no speedo, onboard computer all over the place, fuel gauge moving all over the place, indicators not cancelling, steering lock not engaging when taking the key out, mileage counter not increasing.

Being a 2009 model, I wouldn't have thought the PDC water issue would cause it, but I'm going to check in daylight. PDC is actually still working as well. Anywhere else where water could collect and affect things?

Is there something else that could cause this whole array of problems in one go? No faults on the car this morning, but all this lot this afternoon.

Cheers

Cheers. I can't be certain, but I'm fairly sure it's on it's original battery.
To be honest, I know it's been suffering slightly with charge in the recent cold weather due to the tell-tale signs of the headlights not coming on when unlocking etc, but this was after an hour's thrash down the M40 with the alternator doing it's job well. The multimeter this afternoon said the car's running at a healthy 14-14.5 v when idling so would the battery still cause this?

Water in the comm's bus in my opinion, swimming PDC is always favourite. Act fast and you might save yourself a bill.

So it seems it's the ABS control unit.
Blocked drainage channel on the left side of the bonnet has probably caused it to back up with water in the heavy rain and cooked the unit.
Whoopy doo.
