Evening All

Just wondering if anybody can point me in the direction of some good replacement door speakers for my E82. I for one find the standard sound system to not be as bad as others make out but it's by no means good either !

I'm not looking to go wild at the moment with any OEM upgrades or anything so at present a door speaker upgrade is enough for me.

Much appreciated

I fitted Focal IFBMW-S set about a month ago and I like them. Really easy to fit.

Downside if you can call it one is I suspect they're really a very high quality speaker that needs amping to get the best out of. As it stands they won't blow your wig off :D

Fairly expensive new but I found mine used on eBay for next to nowt.

Theres an official Alpine retrofit set from BMW which includes an amp etc

Do you have any tweeters currently? If not, I'd personally start there instead.

They make such a huge difference to the soundstage. Adding that brightness means you'll be able turn the treble down a little, which in turn allows the mids and subs do what they do best.

Thanks chaps I'll check it out, don't currently have tweeters seems a bit of ballache as I'll need new pillars to accomodate them and then no doubt OEM parts will be super money !, I had the upgraded sound package on my last car with 10 speakers and tweeters was good but in all honesty not as much as I'd hoped.

I just need the speakers a bit better grade unless people think it won't make much difference in which case I'll leave things as they are ?

You could check out the IFBMWC, coaxial equivalent of mine? Probably not as effective but would save you a job/time/money with the tweeters

Or

Logic 7.. Search eBay you could find something second hand..
Something like this ?
No those won't fit your car..

Mines look like this..

Listings come up every now and then on eBay. RealOEM catalogue would help you with part numbers.

*edit*

Oh look theres some available for just £40 ebay that > 252253879038 I believe they're for the rear parcel however it looks exactly the same maybe someone can confirm whether they would fit the front door.

MB quart £89 brand new 261510066273

MB quart with tweeters £160 251666185608

The tweeter grills are like 30-50.. I sold mines for £20

The focal setup is good I can recommend them, go straight in minimal fuss. Tweeters make a big difference, focal do a set with tweeters. Come in about the 200 mark though.

How much do you want to spend in total? Any speaker setup you change to will be a grade above what BMW use but it will get costly. My Gladen setup will easily set you back £800 at least. £400 for the 3 way components and £400 for the amplifier.

BMW's own Alpine retrofit is a GOOD alternative to this :).

Looking at probably £200 max as I say I'm not desperate to change but certainly think it would make a difference and give a bit more of a premium sound with just the door speakers.

All of the BMW OEM kits are far too much money (certainly the ones I've seen anyhow)
