New car has the Pro Nav so I've downloaded the BMW remote and Connected app. Bit disappointed so far. The Remote app seems to take an age to process the job - headlight flash - etc, while the Connected app seems to need to be connected via usb to do anything.

I've only had the car a couple of days and I'm sure it will probably be user error somewhere but can anyone advise if there are any decent instructions anywhere, and if an android phone needs to be connected by usb for the Connected app to work?

Mine took about a week for it all to work properly. All the stuff like unlock, lock and flash lights is just a gimmic, it's very slow... However the tracking feature is cool, especially when out of the country - only thing I ever use it for

The eco pro analyser, last mile, and current tank range etc all look like they could be quite cool, but it seems that I'd have to plug the car into the usb to get all that stuff which seems pretty poor on the face of it when the car is 4G. Unless I'm missing something...

I have a Note 5, one of the very highest spec Android phone. Connected App doesnt work well. Remote App works and is useful for demisting the windows in the morning.

BMW's support for android leaves much to be desired.

Top end stock in car system and top end phone using the most popular operating system. Integration should be much, much better

I read various rumours that Apple car will also be offered with BMW soon.. whilst I'm more an Android man personally I do see that they need some serious help from a professional software / hardware company..

I have seen the same rumours posted online I guess it would be rolled out on new cars rather then an update which would be ideal!

Agreed. So BMW have confirmed that for Connected to work, my phone must be connected to the car via usb. Feels to me that in this day and age this shouldn't be the case.

I'm going to try iPhone next time round so perhaps that will work without having to be connected via usb?

Or have I misunderstood and this is to do with me not speccing enhanced bluetooth?

It would be good if the remote app could turn on the heated seats.

Android integration is very poor compared to iOS. Basically if you want any functionality you'll have to buy an iPhone.

The Connected app on Android doesn't do much and has to be connected via a USB cable. The iOS version on the other hand has a web radio interface and actually works consistantly. Also there are many apps that integrate fully with pro nav on iOS, such as Deezer, Spotify and Pandora.

I have an Android phone but I've got an old iPhone in the armrest for apps & music.
Got it, thanks. It'll be an iPhone next year so I guess I'll have to wait. I've also tried to connect my gmail account -I go through the stages of set up but seem to fail to connect at the final hurdle. Should this work on my car which has pro nav but no extended bluetooth?
