- If there are many SMS message stored on the K700, connection/disconnection problems may occur
- The S700i does NOT disconnect when more than 10 SMS are stored on the phone, but, does disonnect and reconnect when long SMS are stored on the phone, namely more than 160 characters long
- For the S700 you will need to update the firmware to R3K004, otherwise you will have the disconnection problem due to multiple (more than 10) SMS problem. When you update the only problem which remains is the Long SMS problem (more than 160 characters long SMSs cause disconnections.
Phones with limited compatibility:

It does not sync with the BMW bluetooth system.
Can connect and make/receive calls but no voice control or address book transfer. (have tried the nokia 810 manager software but to no avail)
Compatible phones without phonebook transfer:
(These phones will not disconnect randomly, be able to make calls and receive calls hands free etc, but not syncronize the phone book with the car)

Installing Nokia Contact Downloader for E50
Please check: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Needs a bit of tweaking, but in the end, all works fine...
Make sure that the Contacts Manager s/w is running BEFORE you try to pair the phone with the car.
Steps to be followed:
1. On the E50, in Bluetooth paired devices, delete the pairing for the car
2. In the car, delete the pairing to your phone
3. On the phone, set up a new synch profile (press the menu key, then select Connect, then Synch)that synchs Contacts, but no other applications. Under Connection Settings for this profile, make sure the data bearer is set to Bluetooth.
4. Download Nokia 810 Contact Download Application from here " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and install on your phone. Follow the setup prompts on your phone to complete the installation
5. Put the car kit in search mode
6. On the phone, go to Contacts / Options / Synchronization / Start, then select the profile that you have defined in #3 above.
7. Follow the prompts on the phone and car to pair the devices.
8. Once paired, the synch will start, and the contacts will be sent to the car kit. A 'Transferring data' message will be displayed. The transfer took only a couple of minutes for 300+ contacts in my phone.
Hope this helps any frustrated BMW car kit users out there.
Define synchronization settings for Contacts:
Include in sync: Yes
Remote database: Contacts
Synchronisation type: Normal
Server version: 1.1
Server ID: when you switch to 1.1, this option disappears
Data bearer: Bluetooth
Host address: PC Suite
User name: none
Password: ***
Allow sync requests: Yes
Accept all sync reqs: Yes

Installing Nokia Contact Downloader for E50
Please check: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
