Hi there,

I know this has been covered before, but I think my situation is a bit different...

I've bought my m135i from Ireland, as a blind sale from a Bmw main dealer. It's the correct spec, age price and colour, so much so that I didn't even bother haggling much on the price.

I'm collecting it on Saturday, which involves a plane to Belfast, quick dash to the dealers, I've them just got a half hour free to check everything before whizzing to the docks, ferry to Scotland, then a leisurely 4 hour drive back to Yorkshire (hurrah!)

So, I've asked them to make sure tyres are all good and the fuel pump recall is done, I've had them debadge it, but I cannot think of anything else! Is there anything else that really needs checking, or any known issues that I should get looked at?

Thanks in advance...

with only 30minutes spare, you're very pressed for time! Make sure all the mats, jack, wheel sealant, manual book are all there. Check all the stuff you've asked for have been carried out/checked.Check paintwork for differences, scratches, chips.

Enjoy the car! :)

Check they haven't used a screwdriver to debadge it - always better to DIY... a bit late probably...

You will be doing well to complete the paperwork in 30minutes, so you are up against the clock.

Hopefully you have negotiated a stonking deal, and you always have the 'approved used' and full bmw warranty to fall back on in the event of any problems.

Hope all works out for you and enjoy the trip home.. :)

Any evidence of respray - over spray, paint/stonechip/sealer on one side that isn't on the other, panel gaps and alignment, bolts with missing paint or scratched off paint near them. Look for colour variation in the paint (bumpers excepted), texture difference in the lacquer. Any swirls / holograms on one panel that agent on others ?

Inside look for any disturbance on trim, seals etc. Fit inside should be perfect, so if there is something that doesn't quite sit properly it'd pique my interest.

All worst case scenario stuff but better to be safe than sorry.

Today get the VIN from the seller and put it through the decoder online, make sure that the options listed they're tie up with what you want/what was advertised.

+1. Do everything that Crafty says.

If you have any doubts, walk away.

Checking the body and wheels...This may sound strange... Take a clean microfibre cloth. Ask them to jet wash the car but don't dry it. Then in a well lit area, spray it with a detailing spay and you dry it. If there is anything wrong, you'll spot it straight way. Should take no more than 10 mins. And if all is well the car will look great, you'll feel happy, reassured and it will be a great drive home.

Good luck my friend.

Coleraine is more than a quick dash. Long old drive from Belfast.

Take a checklist and pen - go round ticking bits off. Don't worry about what they think - you'll never see them again, hopefully. :lol2:
Yes. Great advice. Checklist is the way to go. Maybe a bit OCD but I did this. Things like both keys present, BMW service inclusive
certificate, fuel tank filled as per agreement, reg number correct, alloys not kerbed, idrive shows correct dates for services
( 2 years first service, 3 years brake fluid etc ), mileage on odo. The list goes on.

Without a checklist you will forget as you will excited to get into your shiny BMW

Collection took about 1 hour for both my new BMWs.

Check for damage , damage and damage . Check less obvious places like underneath, under the front bumper , bottom of sills etc. Also check the transport blocks have been removed . Heard of a couple of cars that had them left in.

Good spec that! Take your time, don't rush for the boat if you can get a later one. Enjoy!
