I think I did exactly as you propose, used an old Phillips screwdriver. Make sure you use ceramic grease on the back of the pads......your changing the ware detecter cables too?

Yep,got redstuff pads new wear indicator,but just gonna use the old springs/pins.as the car had only done 13,500 miles I was a bit gobsmacked when told the pads needed replacing as they were down to 2mm😱I think I did exactly as you propose, used an old Phillips screwdriver.
