I think I did exactly as you propose, used an old Phillips screwdriver. Make sure you use ceramic grease on the back of the pads......your changing the ware detecter cables too?

Changing front pads on m135i
I'm going to attempt the front pads on my car,any tips/pointers?can I knock the pins out just using an old screwdriver or do I really need a proper punch?thanks in advance😁

Yep,got redstuff pads new wear indicator,but just gonna use the old springs/pins.as the car had only done 13,500 miles I was a bit gobsmacked when told the pads needed replacing as they were down to 2mm😱I think I did exactly as you propose, used an old Phillips screwdriver.
