Car washing and potential hose pipe bans

I like a clean car, it’s my weekend therapy although lately rather than a weekly wash it might be two weeks. So with all the talks about acting now to use less water and maybe help avoid a hose pipe ban you could not wash your car it’s got me thinking. I’m sure my neighbours will find it amusing as they aren’t interested in their cars but if I were to stick to a bi-weekly wash whilst there is only water advise and no hose pipe ban then I’m thinking that’s acceptable. For every car wash I skip I’m sure a neighbour will be filling their paddling pool for the school holidays.

Whats your thoughts?

There's always rinseless washing with something like Optimum No-Rinse? Couple of buckets of water, no hosepipes to get the curtain twitchers riled up. Not a big believer in it personally, but others seem to swear by it!
Dependent on your wash routine, if you have a pressure washer that draws from a container, you could use that. Many washers don't use a great deal of water compared to a hose so you could do that anyway. The snag is, the neighbours will likely still think you are using loads of water. My Kranzle needs tap pressure but lower spec models don't.

I only use Optimum on a lightly dusted car and rarely at that, however, if you do it right and take your time, it's OK and I am very particular about paint, I don't like swirls etc. You need to look at the different methods and choose which you think will work best in use for you, just don't go down the grout spong route.
We’re on a water meter so don’t use much, in a county where it pisses it down 90% of the year so United Utilities can do one. 😜

Being serious, I can’t stand washing cars any more so BMW do ours twice a year. 😂🤣😍

Lazy B'stard :)
my grandad has a water butt - which of course is empty so he has filled it up with his hose before the ban!!
Just been announced for us.

South East Water are quite happy to pump “16-21 billion litres” of human sh*t into our rivers without giving a stuff about the effects, but god forbid we use that water to wash the car eh
