Hi All,

i'm new to this forum but find it very informative, i just bought myself a lovely 2008 118d m sport, unfortunately it came with a standard stereo setup which i am looking to improve in the near future.

Being pretty hands on i bought myself on ebay a 2010 bmw professional headunit with bluetooth and usb functions.

Now it was easy to install and luckily didnt need coding, the only issues i had was the fiber optic kept flashing causing a clicking sound through the speakers even when the stereo was off.

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i bought a MOST fiber optic loop which resolved this issue.

The next thing was to buy a FAKRA male to female ext adaptor. After installing this the radio still doesn't work? i cant figure out why? all i get is the radio hissing sound. Quite annoying actually :cry:

I replaced the BHU and the radio worked fine,it picked up the stations and its crystal clear so its not the aerial.

Perhaps its needs a modern amplified bmw aerial? Any ideas on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Wibbles,

Everything works actually, PDC, cd, aux input. The radio hissing sound comes through the speakers) so there is sound.

Also all the usual extras like showing the cars information, Bluetooth all work.

So will coding get the radio working even though I can tune the stations but just the signal isn't coming from the aerial.

Thanks

On closer inspection you were right jammy, the fakra pin on the back of the stereo was missing, snapped off, hence why it was picking up radio stations.

Attempting to pull the stereo apart and repair it
