My car was confirmed going into build at the end of last week. Sort of Thursday Friday (great a Friday afternoon one....)

Originally dealer estimated very end of March for pickup. Can anyone shed any light on how long it takes roughly from the car going into build until it's ready for collection. Certainly anyone recently?

Surely not thick end of two months?

I was told my car was being built last week, my dealer said I should be able to pick it up mid to late feb, the original estimated delivery date was last December lol, I'm sure yours will be ready to pick up in a week or so

Jesus. I don't think it'll be ready in a week or two mate. I was thinking more start of March than end of March

Love your optimism though :)

Ask the BMW genius for a status update. You'll need either your vin or the dealer order number.
Can't. Asked dealer for order number and he said the bmw "genius" wouldn't be able to help me.
Said he'd give me updates. Which I'm sure he will.

Every few weeks....

Load of rubbish. I asked the genius several times for updates using my dealer order number.
My sales guy didn't even know you could ask the genius for an update.

Not a chance it will be at dealership next week, if going to build yesterday at best it will leave factory next Friday and then about three weeks before it is at the dealership! I'm guessing Mid March would be a fair estimate

My dealer emailed me today to say that the car has just come out of the "body shop".... I don't even know what that is supposed to mean! I've asked him for estimated delivery and he comes back with an answer like that. I also asked him what status number it was on and he didn't tell me that either :(

My dealer would email me a screen shot of the status update. That will give you the dealer order number. If he's a bit vague on the delivery date (which should be estimated on the screen shot) then you could threaten to cancel the order and see if that kicks him up the arse.

Awk no I wouldnt be looking regular updates I was just curious if it had went into build this week how it could possibly take another nearly 2 months. Start/mid march would make sense.

Anyone any solid timeframe's from recently picking their car up? Like if they've recently picked it up, how long ago was it just into build...

I picked mine up 4 weeks ago today. Ordered 27th of sept. From it going into production to arriving at the dealer was around 4 weeks but I've heard of people's cars sat at port of exit for up to 2 weeks.

It's just frustrating how slow some people are to reply to emails and when they do they give vague answers like that.....after all it's not a daewoo matiz on order it's a £30k BMW!

4 weeks then. Well 4-6 certainly explains the march prediction.
Mid march would be nice as I don't release my car until start of March :)

Anyone pick up a white lci recently and try mini detail/ seal it themselves? And if so what products?

Exactly. My dealer was a little sluggish at first and I was getting really frustrated finding out I would have to wait 3-4 months for the car so I sent an arsey email to customer services. They then contacted the dealer and he was great for updates. For me even if they just drop you an email to say there's nothing new to report but they are keeping an eye on the status. Maybe drop BMW customer services an email.

My M135i only took 4 weeks to arrive from the day I ordered it, and my dealer still says two weeks from now, it doesn't take anything like 4 weeks once built to arrive

It all depends where it is in the system and whether the dealer already has a car on order for stock that he can change before lockdown.

Mine took about a week to go from production start to being sat at the docks. Cars take about a day to go from BiW to build complete.

The longest stage is from departing plant to arriving in the UK. Probably as they'll have to wait for the ship to have enough cargo before they send it. Mine has been sat at pre EU departure for about 2 days now with expected delivery at the dealers this week.

Final stage is from docks to dealership. Again from a logistical point it's not viable for a transporter to go up Glasgow for example with 1 car so what they'll do is wait until they have more cars to deliver to that dealer or to other dealers in the area before sending it.

It's amazing what you learn from going on a BMW plant tour!!!
