For sale is my wife’s 2009 BMW 125i M Sport cabriolet. The car is on an 09 plate; first registered 27th March 2009. The car currently has 104,161 miles on the clock which will increase because it is still in use. The car is finished in Space Grey Metallic paint with black leather.
Equipment
18 inch style 261 alloy wheels
Heated seats
Bluetooth phone connection
CD player
Aux input
Front and rear parking sensors
Auto headlights / wipers
Dual zone climate control
Electric folding mirrors
Auto dimming rear view mirror
Dipping near side mirror when reverse is selected
In our ownership I have added a screen in place of the dashboard storage cubby which provides a wired and wireless CarPlay connection for sat nav, streaming music and calls. I still have the storage cubby should the next owner want to remove the screen. There is an Apple lightning connector in the cubby for charging / wired CarPlay connection.
Exterior
The car is finished in Space Grey Metallic and does have some marks consummate with the age and mileage, the worst of which is a car park ding on the crease of the drivers door. I had been meaning to get this sorted but have never got round to it unfortunately. The are a few other minor imperfections such as stone chips and gravel rash to the side skirts, but the car does present well.
The aerial has been changed for a genuine BMW stubby aerial which looks considerably better than the one it left the factory with. The rear diffuser has been panted gloss black to provide a better contrast with the grey paint. The exhaust tips have been replaced with genuine BMW ones due to the originals looking tired.
Interior
The interior is in very good condition with some minor wear to the seat bolsters. The Boston black leather has aged well. I have fitted the tilting headrests from a 3 series.
The halogen bubs have been replaced with LED to modernise the car and I have had a number of pieces of trim refinished in alcantara with silver grey stitching to match the BMW performance parts for this generation of car. The work was carried out by Royal Steering Wheels who retrimmed the following parts; dash trim insert, binnacle cover, handbrake grip and gaiter, gear gaiter and steering wheel. The car has a genuine BMW performance shift knob fitted. The rest of the interior trim has been wrapped in carbon vinyl. The ashtray has been replaced with a cubby which is the perfect size to hold a phone.
Wheels and Tyres
I have had all four alloy wheels refurbed in our ownership but unfortunately there is a minor scuff on the driver’s front wheel. The car currently has Good Year Asymmetric 5 rear tyres with 5mm of tread left and Good Year Asymmetric 6 front tyres with 7mm of tread.
Suspension
In March 2022 I fitted Eibach lowering springs, Bilstein B4 front dampers to match the rears previously installed and I fitted M3 LCA’s to improve the steering feel / turn in. The front suspension received new spring cups, top mounts etc and a number of new bolts. The four wheel alignment was carried out by Puma Build.
Engine, Transmission and Brakes
The car has BMW’s fabulous six cylinder N52 engine. In the 125i the power is reduced to 218bhp by a restrictive throttle map however I took he car to P Torque in Wolverhampton who remapped to 130i power – so 277bhp or so.
The engine sounds fantastic and pulls well throughout the rev range. The gearbox has had E46 M3 mounts fitted, a new white shifter bush and the CDV has been removed to improve clutch feel.
The brakes have subsequently upgraded to 130i spec (330mm front rotors rather than 300mm rotors). It has Zimmerman discs front and rear with ATE pads, the fronts being ceramic to reduce brake dust. The brake callipers have been painted in flat grey with black spring clips.

The MOT history is very good with no fails; the last two MOT’s under our ownership have not had any advisories. The current MOT expires on 27th October 2023.
These is a folder of receipts etc from our ownership of the car that will be supplied with it. The car comes with two keys, the service book and owner’s manual. The car is HPI clear with no outstanding finance etc – before purchasing it I bought a V Check which I can share to demonstrate this. The private plate will be removed prior to sale. My wife is the fourth owner.
The car runs well and drives well, the roof works as it should and it will be sold with the wind deflector. We will be sad to see it go, but we need a more practical car especially as our little boy gets bigger.
I am asking £5,500 for the car which I believe if fair for the condition and the work carried out to date.
We are located close to the A42, near Tamworth.
