Hi guys
This is my first bmw so I'm a complete newbie to these high end cars!

Would like to know abit about servicing this comes up every time I start my car up

on the symbols it matches the rear brakes and nothing else is near being ready to be done yet so is this just warming me of that or something else??

It's just letting you know a forecast for the next time it will need some love.

Rear brakes in your case, although the brake warnings tend to be a little pessimistic. I'd visually check them before throwing your hard earned dollar about.

Okay thanks! That's the only light that's close everything else is a year or more anyway! With full bmw service history on 47000 miles.. But do have the mot coming up in March

Also do you need to service a bmw yearly or just when it comes up on the computer??

No. The MOT reminder is the only thing that ticks around yearly.

Some other items are mileage or time, 20k or 24 months (whichever comes first).

Change oil every 10,000miles or less also, even if it says it isnt due on computer... very important on these diesel engines they have routinely fresh oil. (Timing chains and Turbos need it)

Agreed, N47 Diesel engines aren't good, regular oil changes will help postpone the inevitable.

What years does the n47 engine run to ? My own car a 2012 120d msport E88 is that an n47 type ?

2012 is definitely an N47, they put it in the F20's too.

They improved them in 2014, there is revised tensioner gear available.
