Bank loan, PCP, Hire purchase or Leasing - how did you buy your M140?

6670 Views 44 Replies 28 Participants Last post by  msej449
My M140i shadow edition with 2k miles on clock, ex demo car, registered may 2018 was £31,000

I pay £492 a month for 4 years with 1000 deposit

I can't find any lease deals on m140s otherwise I would have gone for that because more than anything else I want low monthly repayments and smallish deposit, I don't care about owning the car afterwards

How did you buy your car? And what is the lowest monthly repayment possible for a car like this? PCP or lease?

I ordered mine in December 2017, and it was registered 1st March 2018. Mine is on a 48 month PCP 8000m/pa. I put down £1000 deposit and paying £406 per month. After discounts it was around £32800
Interesting, sounds like you got a better APR % than me, probably because you ordered it new

Anyone here buy there's with a lease deal?

Intersted to see who has the lowest monthly repayment
Oh I should say, mine is 10,000 miles a year max
I think I've seen some good lease deals but with leasing it's only a good deal if you take the car as is. The options put the price up pretty quickly.
OP - I hope as yours was new you didn't get it on 11.9%. Your payments seem pretty high to me, hopefully the car is fully loaded

Mine is 300pm but I put in around 6k.some may think this is stupid but I prefer lower monthlies and my deposit was some of the return from my sale from the previous car
March 2017, Manual 5dr, heated seats, sun protection, comfort pack. 4 year PCP, 8k miles pa, £1000 down and £320 a month.
I paid cash and got the same level of discount from TRL. Great deals.
It has pro media, HK, electric seats, cruise and Park sensor front rear, heated seats. It is quite a high spec

I think I had 6.9% apr. Car was 31,500 reduced from 33,000. I was first owner but it had 2200 miles when I picked it up as it was used as demo car

The shadow edition comes with HK, cruise, rear sensors, sun pro glass. So the options you have is pro Media, electric seats, heated seats and front sensors plus any others you may not have mentioned
Bought 1 year old back in March with only 3K miles from main dealer.
Bank loan £370/month for 5 years, put down £3K deposit.
Can pay off loan with only 1 months interest.
Of course no balloon payment.
Presently outstanding loan is roughly in line with 'we buy any car' valuation and should swing so value of car is greater over time.
No negative equity, total flexibility.
Nov 2017, new M140i Shadow 5 dr auto, Melbourne Red, adaptive, heated seats, pro nav, dimming mirrors. Run craps (!!!!)

PCP 0% APR £500 deposit, £355 per month, 10,000 per annum 48 months.

Very happy with that!

TRL from Berry Heathrow BMW is a forum sponsor and will be as cheap as you find for a PCP deal. I've pasted his latest Q3 deals below, or visit his forum page.

"Here our the latest figures for the M140 shadow edition model, for orders placed from 1st July 2018 to 30th September 2018 and registered by 29th December 2018. Available only through me online - not from the showroom.
The Figures have been updated to show the new Road Tax costs from 1st July 2018.
The figures below are a typical example. Should you wish to vary your deposit or annual mileage then apply the following.
For every £1000 of deposit reduce the monthly payment by £22pm.
For every extra 1000 miles per annum required, add £6pm. The minimum mileage allowance is 8000 miles pa.

Please use the information below to work out your own spec/figures as I am unable to reply to every single email as I work alone.
Contact me on my usual email address if you need further details or wish to place an order.

Lead time is usually 12 weeks though we do sometimes carry some stock which could arrive sooner."

Many thanks for that,

Looks like I missed out on the dealer and bmw contributions on new car orders, my list price was 3k higher than those above

Not too bothered though, happy with my deal. Thanks all
PCP from TRL to get the best discount.

I then took a personal loan and cleared the PCP finance within 14 days, paying about £5 in interest to BMW.

Overall this will save £ thousands in interest over PCP as a method of buying a car.

What are your monthly payments to the bank though? More or less than the pcp?

I did part cash, part loan (about half and half). Lowest rates on personal loans are about 3% (and often greater if borrowing more than 15K), so I can't see how a car entirely financed on a personal loan can 'save thousands'. Maybe about 1500 max?
Why is there no one leasing rather than PCP?

I am led to believe leasing gives lower monthly payments? Am I wrong?

Sorry, quite new to car finance
never seen cheap leases on the 135/140s

you must be gettin mixed up with VW
