I assume that everyone gets their MOT done at their approved BMW dealer for the first MOT. Am i right that BMW will cover any faults

I just bought an AUC car, dealership gave me a voucher to use to cover cost of MOT and any work required (obviously not consumables e.g. tyres etc) but voucher can only be used at their dealership (down in Portsmouth - I'm in Croydon!).
I think you will be covered by a couple of things - the 1st MOT cover and also the 12 month warranty you get with an AUC.
Put the car in with just under a month to go until the due date. You'll still be within the warranty to get things repaired and you'll get a 13 month MOT.

Are you planning on extending the warranty?
I'm in the same position. The dealer mentioned the voucher for MoT so this is useful info.

I'll possibly be looking at extending the warranty. Will it have to be serviced by BMW every time or will a specialist using genuine parts be ok?

That's exactly what I did with my daily. I knew it needed work and it was done under warranty as it was within the 12 months from buying the car.
Book it in early, my 2 closest dealers had no appointments for 6 weeks. (although my cynical side makes me think they do it on purpose knowing they'll make no mney!)

Went somewhere else in the end
