When I collected my last car from Audi I got given a golf umbrella and the wife got a bottle of champagne, now I know they build this into the cost of the car but it was a nice little touch. Do BMW do similar?

My auntie and uncle always got stuff whether flowere and champagne or a car care kit. We've never even had a thank you

Many many years ago we bought an M3 (E36) from Sytner Sheffield and the Mrs got a stunning bunch of flowers and my son a lovely cuddly toy . Nice touch !

Looking back , I think if you get freebies , it just means you paid too much for the car

Depends on ya discount - I pushed my luck so got nought on the day. Happy with that... If I had it would have been an expensive bottle of plonk otherwise.

The salesman had a laugh with me when I asked for an umbrella during the handover, his exact comment was 'you've squeezed every penny out of this deal and now you want even more!'

He did actually say it's quite hard to sign off on giving goodies but I'm guessing if you've paid through the nose for the car they'll do it

My dealer promised me the black grills with the deal but they weren't in there on collection. He did say they were in order! That was 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure if I should be a royal pain in his arse and keep hassling him?

Eerrm... Hassle him for sure - a deal is a deal. You honoured your end (I presume) by signing on the dotted line and paying, he should honour his. If the grills were in the (written) deal then by all means 'remind' him

I just have. I thought sod it and dropped him an email if they were £20 I'd just buy some but at £80-£90 it's a lot and like you say, a deal is a deal.

Good stuff. I'd opt to fit yourself though... I got mine fitted when I collected which was cool apart from they knackered the original set which I kinda wanted to keep hold of.

I've already told him I'll do them. Glad I did cos on collection of the car he said "oh you can just yank them out" I was like wtf! Lol

I got black grills thrown in plus a BMW thermos and a well presented leather key ring (in addition to the standard one). Can't argue with the service from TRL!
