Any details on the vent display retrofit?

Hi all, not too familiar with 1er's, but am hoping to get some info from the community.

BMW offered a retrofit kit (to support front/rear cameras) for a small display to be mounted in one of the central air vents.
The p/n was 66 21 0 392 386.
I've only seen renders/catalogue photos/EBA illustrations for how it's supposed to look, and they are all different. I am assuming the production version looked like the VDO navi kit, but not sure.
Has anyone got any details/photos on this kit?

thanks

google hints that his kit was for pdc indicator, not camera
seems that later they stick with sound thru separate speakers or car radio and allowed visual indication only with navi radios
if rear camera is really needed, there is possibility to retrofit factory rear camera from e84 or e70 if professional CIC navigation is installed
Google is wrong (or maybe you're misinterpreting the results).
My chassis is E46, so a camera from CCC cars for me, but that's beside the point - I am just looking for details on the monitor, as it was a similar/same part as used in the E46 based on my data
66210392386 doesn't come up at all on my copy of ETK. Usually old stuff has the details like production dates etc. but that part number just isn't in the system. It isn't on the brochures/accessory pricelists I have either.

Do you know if the kit ever made it to production, at least in the UK?
Yeah, like other items from that era (cameras, marderschutz, etc) it was removed from the ETK at some point after 2010.
Here is a crop from one of the accessory catalogues, depicting the "catalogue" version, which I think never made it to production, being too over-engineered.

The kit definitely made it to production for E81/87, as I've seen one for sale a long time ago (no photos left sadly). E90 kits are much more widespread, but also look like more of a hack job.
Not sure if it was ever offered in the UK, though, as not all options make it across the channel/get enough demand here (SoundModul comes to mind)

Ahh gotcha. I used to have a copy of ETK from 2009 – can't get that anywhere nowadays :(

I've never even seen that kit mentioned on here before, advanced search for stuff like 'reversing camera' limiting dates to the early 00s might bring something up? Could be worth searching 1erforum.de (translated as necessary) too, they have a lot of good info over there.

Hope you manage to dig out the stuff you need!

Ah, i know what is was about, this was called an Accessory Menu and it had front and rear camers from alpine and video switch. So may be Alpine made some display for e87 too. There was also possibility to play videos from usb
This retrofit had sort of stages - first stage was only video switch, next was rear or front and rear cameras etc...
I had first stage of this kit 7-10 years ago and sold it without installing, decided to upgrade CCC to CIC on E91.
Could be worth searching 1erforum.de (translated as necessary) too, they have a lot of good info over there.

Thanks. Yep, I've asked on 1erforum too - I've seen an old thread on there where someone was selling it, but pictures are long gone.

It's from that era, but not the same thing. ACM was needed for CCC cars to route non-standard media inputs, and was just a junction box. ACM never provided a separate display unit, and was always paired with a normal iDrive CCC display (the E81/87 version was called Control Information Display or some such).
You're correct that there was a video switch (or, more accurately, a CSB switchbox) - it was for managing multiple video inputs from cameras (mainly on cars without the TV module).
