Guys always wondered if there is a quality alcantara / suede or similar type material wheel cover available for the one series bmw ? I know you can buy universal steering wheel covers but would rather spend a few quid extra for something that actually fitted correctly and did not scream " Halfords "

such a thing ? :cool2:

Yep appreciate that mate and given my location in the uk and the extra cost involved I will sadly have to pass on this method and stick to the original idea off the steering wheel cover / wrap if available ?

It would look very poor just wrapping the wheel with something. Just bite the bullet and get it covered professionally or I doubt you would be happy with the outcome.
Ive learnt the hard way trying to save money in the past so now I just wait until I can afford to do things properly.

Your probably right ?! Take it the wheel is removed prior to the recovering ? Don't think that would be an easy DIY ? :lol2:

Okay thanks that particular part number refers to a steering wheel cover but further investigation reveals it to be just the centre part off the wheel as opposed to the actual rim.

Hang on, are you trying to wrap the rim, and hoping for a decent finish?

If it's the rim and not the Cover you're after, you need to speak to Royal Steering Wheels as Wrighty said.

Jack will make a wheel for you, which you then swap over in seconds. Post yours back to get your deposit back. Too easy. :)

If you look in the cruise control fitment guide you just need the first few steps of that. Getting the airbag out can be tricky but once you've done it a few times its not too bad at all.

Will probably eventually go down the suggested route but must admit being very encouraged by the results this guy achieved with his DIY wheel wrap. see the picture further down the following link :

Looks like a cheap bodge to me? I think you'll end up throwing good money after bad, imo.

yep your probably right mate but again certainly from the guys pics the wheel looked decent enough to me especially like the self thread idea where it's an exact fit rather just an ill fitting universal fitment. pics to eventually follow whatever route I decide to go for !!

as always thou thanks again for all your kind input guys. :)
