Airbag recall - E82/E88

Just spotted this over on Bimmerfest -

I notice the E82 and E88 are listed. It only refers to the US at the moment but maybe someone on here knows more about it?!?

Do BMW write to owners or anything like that? Or is it just picked up on servicing?

They will write to you if your vehicle is affected, I got a letter from them for an airbag recall on my old E46.
