Booked in for 1st service to be told the fuel filter will be replaced. Its not a recall just something bmw are doing as cars come in for service. Thought you should know folks.

Can confirm (was it the filter, or something more?). Took my Dec-2013 M135i in for 2-yr service just before Christmas and was told there's "work to be done on the fuel tank". They wanted the tank to be less than half full, though; mine was too full. So I'm waiting on another visit to the dealer for this to be done.

When i booked it in told fuel filter not told anything else. To be honest when first starting noticed little interuption etc when moving off.

£260 was the going rate when I had mine done last year. I did supply the oil myself which knocked £100 of the price. Managed to get the oil for £40

Was it definitely the fuel filter and not the pump? When I took my old M135i in for its first service back in November the dealer upgraded the pump as part of an upgrade. I'm sure they said it was the pump anyway lol

My 125D had it's first service yesterday (19,000 miles, purchased Dec-14), nothing else needed doing and was £207 (but that was covered under the service plan).

@trickster & gary-lb. The garage rung me up yesterday they confirmed it will be the fuel pump that will be changed. They informed they will need the car around 2 and a half hours thats an hour longer than service. The service rep said it was not a recall but a quality enhancement. The rep was concerned how much fuel i had in apparently when they do this job they like less than half a tank in. I was looking on my mobile and came across a bmw problews site not this and it had scores of posts about this many complaing its a serious issue and a recall hasnt been initiated. Lots of posts mentioned its been going on for a long time.

Thanks for the update. I've been putting this off as I've been a but busy, but you've reminded me I should crack on and get it booked in. TBH I was slightly annoyed they didn't make more effort to tell me ahead of my already-booked service, so I was unprepared for the +2.5h and half-full tank requirement...... so I end up having to go back in again..... at least the coffee is free

Just had a call from the supplying dealer to tell me the first service is due. Quoted me £445 for oil, oil filter, microfilter and spark plugs. That seems somewhat excessive to me. Will have to ring round and see what the others are offering

are you sure they don't have your car down as an M3?

As far as I know the micro filter and spark plugs are 2nd service items not 1st. They're either pulling a fast one (wouldn't surprise me) or something has been confused.

I did a bit of research yesterday after they rang. I think micro filter is every service but I was very surprised at them saying spark plugs. I haven't found a definitive service list but think I would tend to agree they are a second service item.

Just had my 1st service and it was just oil and microfilter, hope that helps
