I’ve been offered a very cheap 120i auto 2010 which needs an engine (rubbish n43 engine)

im looking at options to put a 6 cylinder engine in ( will buy a complete 323/325/328 breaker for all the parts ecu clocks ancillaries from an E36 or e46)

First question would the gearbox in the 120i auto bolt up to a 6 cylinder engine?

and will we need to fabricate new engine mounts to fit the bigger engine.

just looking at doing it for fun, already have 2x 130i here and no interest in having a weedy 2.0 auto but it’s such a cheap car would be a fun project.

E90 would be a far better donor car, earlier generations aren’t usually considered compatible.

Get the E90 engine, gearbox, Diff, ECU’s and everything else. You’ll probably need a prop shaft from a six cylinder 1er, as the 3er version would be a couple of inches too long.
