120D, 200Bhp, 420nm

Hey guys

Im from south africa, not many people here who run 120D
At moment no one can believe how fast my car is, it faster that 130i and new Golf GTI.

Im a agent for Diesel Tuner, so i have put in a remap box

But what else can i do to my car? What it to be faster, its was a 163Bhp

Dont think a 200bhp diesel is as quick as a 265 bhp petrol!
It is marginally quicker, remeber its just to 100km/h, and i have alot more tourque!
My brother has the 130i

But i waist a GTI :p
Had 320d last week while mine was in the garage it was quick but think 130i is slightly quicker.

Yes golf gti are easy to beat, it gets a bit harder when you have ago with golf r32 they are on par with mine.
320D is heavy, but nothing can beat the sound of a 130i!
Do you guys know of any other mods i can do to the engine, dont want a exhaust!

I can find any companies on net that do 120D

I had a chipped 120d (163) was kicking out 197 and 410Nm slightly faster than a GTi pretty even stevens with a Honda CTR and E46 330i (221Bhp) may pull a little better in gear but still runs out of puff at 5.5K compared to 7k+ of 130i :)
Matt look at mine and tell me you dont want a exhaust fitting.

How much hp you gain, and ofcourse how much does it cost?
It cost me about £850 fitted, not sure on bhp gain but it feels a lot quicker lower in the rev range and the noise is s**t hot.


The site does not have a price for the 1 series but ring for more info. They will also tell you if there is anywhere near to you that will fit it.

This site is direct from suppliers and give you full list of parts.

If you can tell me how to do it i will do it. But there is a couple all ready on youtube.


I can believe that your 120d is faster than 130i, but only to a point.

I have 123d (Similar power to your 120d (204bhp), but not in one lump) and get great satisfaction in beating my girlfriend when she bring 130i back from work (Works for BMW dealer) and have beaten on 3 different occasions, to much delight, R32 golfs (3 different ones).

130 drivers really dont appreciate the joy of tourque, and the benefits they bring from 30-80.

130's and R32 will have the oil burners off the line, but aftre 30, just wait for the tourque in 3rd and away.

Just read the figures, the diesel might have more torque but the petrol is quicker to 60 has more bhp and is lighter. Yours might be good between 30-80 but that would only be keeping up with 130i and after you get to 80 then your power has gone. :lol2:

You have only raced a girl in a 130i :lol2:

123d drivers dont appreciate the joy of a long powerband and a whole extra ratio in lower gearing. You beat a girl - well done ;)

From experience, the 1er diesel 120/123 has a great engine, but is as dull as dishwater on a spirited drive!

Here are some very crude timed videos...

Standard BMW 123d 0-200kmph, 27.5 seconds

Standard BMW 130i 0-200kmph 21.5 seconds

Aside from being 6 seconds faster, which one sounds better? :D :D

;) Ok, im gonna stop winding you up now :celebrate: I must admit i went to the BMW garage to buy a derv and would have done if it wasnt for me doing a back to back test drive with the 130! :D

have a 135i tuned to 360bhp, diesel torque and petrol power, everyones happy....including the taxman :p
